Reading Rush

Reading Rush – Day 3

What a day! It’s so hot! The temperature got up to about 34’C so a perfect day for sitting indoors in front of the fan reading.

I finished ‘The Eyre Affair’ and will revise what I said yesterday. I personally think it IS a 5 star read. The protagonist (Thursday Next) is in a specialist law enforcement department where she protects books, and even gets to go INTO them! If it wasn’t for the bad guys constantly trying to kill her I would have selected her for todays Instagram Challenge.

(Nice Segway there don’t you think?)

Todays Instagram challenge was “Take a photo of a book with a character whom you would switch lives with!”  I chose Sally Owens from ‘Practical Magic’ as I’d love a little magic in my life.20190724_104047

Joined in another Twitter Sprint today, I joined in the midday one this time as I had the day off and was delighted to find that the host was in the UK. So swiftly checked out her booktube channel, I’d recommend it. ReadingBucowski.

Ironically, one of the questions asked fit in very well with the book I was reading. (apologies for the spelling error)

So, as I said, I finished ‘The Eyre Affair’ then I had a dilemma. It was about 2 o’clock in the afternoon and I was ahead of schedule. My next read was ‘Practical Magic’ but I had planned to read that on Day 4 in my reading hut for the ‘same spot’ challenge, then watch the film afterwards for the ‘book/film’ challenge.

I had two options, I could find a quick read that I would hopefully finish by the end of the day, or I could squash down my neurosis and start ‘Practical Magic’ ahead of schedule. After about half an hour deliberating this I went for a third option, which was to take a complete break for a bit, and make something.

For a while I’d been meaning to extend the children’s section in my library and I had an idea for this, I had already worked out what I wanted to do I just needed to sew it. Quickly and easily done. As it turned out I couldn’t have planned that better as most of the local schools broke up for the Summer holidays, so I’ve extended it just in time.

Then back to reading.

My little craft break brought me clarity, and I decided to start ‘Practical Magic’. Although I have now picked a reading spot inside the house as my hut is just too hot even with the windows and doors open.

I’ve ended the day 27% into ‘Practical Magic’ and it’s probably too early to say, but so far the film is better, we shall see how it pans out.

Stats for Day 3 are:
Pages read: 298
Time spent Reading: 5hrs 57mins
Books Finished: 1 (The Eyre Affair)

Challenge so far Stats:
Pages read: 695
Time spent Reading: 10hrs 57mins
Books Finished: 2 (Gobbolino the Witches Cat, The Eyre Affair)

p.s Talking of stats, I haven’t been able to share the badges I’ve earned so far for my challenges due to technical difficulties with The Reading Rush site. It’s now been fixed. So here are my achievements so far.badges
